DORCHESTER AUCTION DOUBLES PROCEEDS!

Thanks to generous donations and active buyers, this year’s Wisconsin Agribusiness Council’s 3rd Annual Northern Showcase Auction generated record breaking proceeds, netting just over $10,000.

A good crowd attended the auction handled by Randy & Beaner Stockwell on Saturday, February 16th at R.J. Stockwell’s Land & Auction Building in Dorchester. Auction goers were able to bid on items that included animal feeders, seed/fertilizer, farm tools, art prints, homemade pie and much more. Bidders also enjoyed a steak-n-egg breakfast prior to the auction with proceeds of $400.00 benefiting local Fire/EMS Department. A barber-shop style quartet provided entertainment during breakfast.

Proceeds from the auction help to educate children of all ages by supplying instructional materials throughout the state including: the activity books, “This Business Called Agriculture” and “The ABCs of Agriculture” (for elementary students), and the brochure “An Agriculture Career for You” (for high school students). The money raised will also provide scholarships and agribusiness internships, and other educational events and activities throughout the state.
WAC Auction/Education Coordinator, Maggie Bender stated, “This was our most successful northern auction yet. It’s great to see that people remain interested and supportive of agriculture literacy throughout the entire state”.
